Pub history
This grand former general post office building, on Darwen Street, opened for business on 11 November 1907. The Renaissance-style building was designed by Walter Pott, ARIBA, of HM Office of Works. It was later extended to accommodate a telephone exchange. The post office closed in 1972. One of Blackburn’s oldest buildings, The Queen’s Head Hotel, stood next door. Outside the former post office was the terminal for the Darwen tram service.
