Pub history
Originally Twickenham’s head post office, this fine Edwardian building is now The William Webb Ellis. Appropriately, in the ‘home of rugby’, it is named after the schoolboy who is said to have invented the game. The post office was built in 1908, on land which once surrounded the manor house which was later called Arragon House. According to popular tradition, it was named after Catherine of Arragon, the first of Henry VIII’s six wives.
