VAT’s The Problem – petition
On Thursday 17 September, Wetherspoon’s pubs are to cut the price of all food and drinks by 7.5 per cent – to highlight the benefit of a permanent VAT reduction in the hospitality industry.
VAT’s The Problem
The VAT’s The Problem campaign is calling on the Government to reduce hospitality VAT from 20% to 10%, bringing the UK more into line with countries such as France, Spain and Italy, where lower rates help businesses invest, grow and create jobs.
The campaign argues a lower VAT rate that a fairer VAT rate would strengthen local economies, protect jobs and help hospitality continue to thrive as an industry facing significant cost pressures.
The campaign is backed by hospitality businesses, industry organisations, suppliers and producers from across the UK, with a nationwide petition calling on Government to introduce a permanent 10% VAT rate for hospitality.
If you’d like to support the campaign, please consider signing the petition and sharing it with friends, family and colleagues.
