Wetherspoon Jan Sale starts Friday January 2, 2026
Wetherspoon is holding a January sale, including a pint of Worthington’s beer at 99p in more than 600 of the pubs.
The sale will run from Friday January 2 until Thursday January 15, inclusive (from Saturday 3 January, in Scottish pubs).
Wetherspoon’s first pub in Spain
Wetherspoon is set to open its first pub in continental Europe – Castell de Santa Bàrbera. Based in Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport, the new pub is set to open in February 2026.

Jaipur at Wetherspoon
Wetherspoon pubs will be stocking Jaipur from 9 April.
Jaipur is a flagship beer from Thornbridge brewery in Derbyshire, first brewed in 2005 and was the beer that put Thornbridge brewery on the map. Tasting notes for Jaipur are below.

1664 Bière on draught – new world beer
All Wetherspoon pubs across the UK and Ireland will be introducing a new premium draught lager. The beautifully crafted French premium lager, 1664 Bière (4.6% ABV), is being added to the company’s draught beer range.

Pub history
The first film shown at the 500-seat Picture House was a silent war film – Mare Nostrum, soon after which ‘talkies’ were introduced. In the mid 1950s, the cinema’s capacity was reduced to accommodate a new wide screen. In 1961, it was purchased by the local council and ‘extensively modernised’ soon afterwards. It was also renamed The Chiltern. The cinema closed its doors on 29 September 1989 for the last time, with the site sold five years later.
