1664 Bière on draught – new world beer

Pub history
This former supermarket was built in the late 1960s/early 1970s, replacing an early Victorian building. From at least the 1890s until the 1950s, it housed Hamer’s jewellery and pawnbroker’s business. It is now Tafarn Y Porth (Gate Inn), named after the nearby East Gate in the old town wall. The East Gate housed the Curfew Bell which was rung when the gate was closing. Anyone not inside the town walls was locked outside overnight.
