Pub history
The Picture Palace
After 1913, Ponders End folk no longer had to travel to Enfield Town or Edmonton for their cinema entertainment, since the Ponders End Picture Palace opened on the corner of Lincoln Road and High Street that year. By 1920, it had changed its name to the Ponders End Electric Theatre. Renamed the Plaza in 1938, it was bomb-damaged two years later. After lying empty for nearly 15 years, it was purchased by Enfield Council for use as a community centre called Howard’s Hall and is now this pub.
