Pub history
The Moon Under Water
The celebrated writer George Orwell described his ideal pub in a newspaper article. He called it ‘Moon Under Water’ which is why several Wetherspoon pubs have ‘moon’ in their name. This particular one is part of the Xscape leisure complex. Built on a greenfield site, it was officially opened to the public in 2000. The distinctive structure is 44 metres high – a striking feature on the Milton Keynes skyline.
