Pub history
The Drum
‘Going, going, gone’ was said in these premises not once, not twice, but many times over. However, by 1983, the long-standing auction house had become Nancy’s Free House. The name ‘Auctioneers’ had been taken two years earlier by the new public house across the road. Nancy’s had an unusual eye-catching display of drums hanging from the ceiling. In 1986, it was converted into one of Wetherspoon’s earliest pubs and named The Drum.
