Pub history
The City Arms
This mock Tudor-style pub was built in 1930. It replaced an earlier pub of the same name which was just behind this building. The original City Arms was built in the 1850s to serve the emerging area of Earlsdon which had a population of around 500. The pub’s most popular landlord was ‘Ma Cooper’. Previously the nanny to the six children of the pub’s owner, she reigned supreme for 25 years, until her death in 1921.
