The Buck Inn

The former Buck Inn is part of a row of long-standing properties at the north end of High Street, close to the grade I listed parish church. On the 1894 OS map, the site of this old inn is marked as a public house, but unnamed. However, The Buck Inn is recorded in trade directories of 1893 and 1890, when Mrs Elizabeth Brockhill was the licensee. The inn is also in Pigot’s much earlier directory of 1829, yet is not one of the inns listed in Baines’ directory of 1823.
