Pub history
The Baron of Hinckley
This modern pub is named after a centuries-old title created by William the Conqueror. By custom, the Baron of Hinckley was also Lord High Steward of England. In 1399, one famous baron, Henry Bolingbroke, became King Henry IV. After the buildings on this site were demolished, in 1999, an archaeological survey revealed the remains of a timber-framed building. Tree-ring-dating showed that it was built with timbers felled in the summer of 1625.
