The Assembly Rooms
This imposing building on Poplar Road has been a town-centre fixture for 130 years. The Public Hall (as it was then called) was built as a replacement for the old town hall. The building’s exterior has remained largely unaltered, yet its interior was considerably rearranged to provide ‘a handsome assembly room’. In 1967, the council moved, and this was used as an annexe by Solihull Technical College and later accommodated the area health authority for many years.
