Pub history
Devonshire House
By 1910, Hugh Maunder, ‘poulterer’, had moved into number 4 and next door had become a greengrocer’s. From the mid 1920s up to World War II, Maunder was trading from both 2 and 4 The Broadway as a ‘butcher’s, provision merchant’s, fruiterer’s and florist’s’. Until then, number 4 had been listed in local trade directories as ‘Devonshire House’.
