Pub history
The Time Piece
The site of The Time Piece public house [11–15 Northgate] was previously occupied by three separate businesses. Watches and clocks were sold at no.15 from at least 1871, until the jeweller’s shop closed in the early 1960s. No.13 Northgate was the long-time premises of the Maypole Dairy Company which prided itself on its fresh butter. One of Dewsbury’s oldest inns, The Fleece, stood two doors away at no.9.
