Pub history
The Cap in Hand
This was originally called the Southborough Arms, after a local landowner. The name was changed during the 1980s. The first site for the Southborough Arms was on the corner of Hook and Haycroft Roads. For several years, it was managed by Matthew Stickley, whose family had long associations with Hook and its farms lands. When the Kingston bypass opened, the pub moved to this site to catch the motor trade. It was built on Haycroft Farm land.
