The William Stanley

This is named after the man who started as a ditch-digger and became an inventor and manufacturer of scientific instruments. Stanley’s factory, in Norwood, still stands, and his own house is a children’s home, as he intended. He was also the founder of Stanley Halls and Technical School, in South Norwood.
