Pub history
The Regent
This landmark building first opened its doors to the public as The Palace Cinema in the summer of 1915. By 1927, it was renamed the Regent. In 1945, the name changed again to the Surrey Continental Cinema, closing on 17 April 1954 with a screening of Battleship Potemkin and Les Enfants Terribles. The former cinema became a shop. In December 1994, the building, with its Art Deco interior, reopened as The Regent public house.
