Our Butter

Arla Foods is a global co-operative owned by 13,500 dairy farmers, around 3,000 of whom are British.
Arla has suppplied Wetherspoon with Anchor Butter portions, mostly for breakfast toast, for many years, and recently introduced Lurpak Spreadable for both front and back of house at the company’s airport pubs.
With production facilities in 11 countris, sales offices in a further 30 and a total of more than 18,000 colleagues, Arla is the world’s fifth largest dairy company and largest supplier of organic dairy products.
Arla Foods is the UK’s biggest dairy company, with a UK turnover of £2.3 billion. As home to brands like Anchor, Cravendale, and Lactofee, the co-operative is number one in fresh liquid milk, butter, spreads and cream, as well as being the UK’s largest cheese manufacturer.
Early in 2015 the group opened the world’s largest fresh milk facility at Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, with plans for it become the first zero carbon site of its kind.
Democratically run by the farmers themselves, the organisation helps give them a sustainable future, adding value to their milk through innovation. Profits are shared between the members.
Arla seeks out the most natural, sustainable and healthy ingredients for its products and in the UK only takes milk from farms that are Red Tractor farm assured.
Some 32,000 people saw Arla farms in action for themselves in the summer of 2015 when Arla farmers opened their gates to the public.
In April 2015 buyers from the UK’s leading supermarkets and other retailers voted Arla tha best branded own label dairy supplier in The Grocer magazines’ Supplier of the Year Awards. It was praised for its “consistent delivery” and “clear strategy.”
