Local attractions

Rooksbury Mill Local Nature Reserve includes a range of habitats, as well as lakes, ponds and a stretch of the River Anton, with day fishing permits available.

The Hawk Conservancy Trust is set in 22 acres of woodland and wildflower meadow, with over 130 birds of prey, and includes spectacular flying displays in three separate flying arenas.

Finkley Down Farm has a large indoor play barn and lots of outdoor activities, including pedal go-karts, mini rides on tractors, a sandpit and trampolines.

Thruxton Motorsport Centre offers visitors the chance to drive their dream cars on the UK’s fastest race circuit, plus an outdoor kart centre, skid-pan driving facility and 4×4 off-road driving track.

The Lights features a 249-seat auditorium, a large arena hall, a suite of business rooms and a dance studio, all complemented by a café area and wine bar. This is the perfect place to submerge yourself in the arts with a full programme of music, theatre, comedy, dance exhibitions, performances and gigs.

Local transport

Local buses run regularly throughout the town.

There are regular direct train services to Salisbury, Exeter, Basingstoke and London Waterloo.

Local taxis are also available.

Parking

There is a large pay-and-display car park at the rear of the hotel, called George Yard, SP10 1PD (charges apply during 8.30am–4pm, Monday–Saturday, with payment by cash and card).

Additionally, you can purchase a ticket for the following day, from the machines or by using the mobile parking app.

There are separate sections to the car park, for short stay (up to an hour) and medium or long stay, so please ensure that you park in the correct area.

Directions

Walking from the train station (16-minute walk), cross the road and walk down Station Approach to Junction Road. Stay on Junction Road and take a left towards Western Avenue/A3057. Keep going until you are on Western Avenue and then turn left towards West Street, after passing Lidl. Turn right onto High Street and continue walking down this road – the hotel will be on your left.

Walking from the bus station (four-minute walk), walk past Costa Coffee and through the Chantry Centre. Continue walking down High Street – the hotel will be on your left.
