Dartmoor National Park

The 700-year-old home of Elizabethan seafarers Drake and Grenville, Buckland Abbey was home to the Cistercian monks who built the abbey, the incredible Great Barn and farmed the then vast estate.

The abbey, now a house with a combination of furnished rooms and interactive museum galleries, tells the story of how the two seafaring adventurers changed the shape of the house and the fate of the country.

Local transport

Local taxis are also available. Buses to Exeter and Plymouth run every 30 minutes during peak times. A train service from Okehampton to Exeter, via Crediton, runs approximately every hour.

The hotel has one accessible parking bay, available on a first-come-first-served basis.
