Pub history
The William Coppin
The Coppins Bridge retail and entertainment complex occupies a triangular site on the eastern side of Newport, immediately south of Coppins Bridge Roundabout. This well-known roundabout commemorates a William Coppin, who lived in 1577. Coppins Bridge was replaced in 1828 by a larger bridge of the same name. This bridge can still be seen under the modern road bridge, between the roundabout and the Coppins Bridge development.
